About Us

Jim became interested in bobbin lace during the summer of 1997. He attended a celebration at Brigham Young University commemorating the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Mormon pioneers into Utah. Booths at the celebration demonstrated various pioneer crafts, one of which was bobbin lace. Jim picked up a few bobbins and decided that he could turn them. He pursued his new interest and since then has made bobbins in his spare time. His wife also caught bobbin fever and began making lace.

Paul's interest in woodworking was sparked by his father's example. Paul's particular interest in wood turning was ignited by woodworking shows on PBS stations. Threatening to build his own treadle lathe during ninth grade, his parents decided it would be best if he didn't. He received his first lathe as a Christmas present soon after. Throughout high school, Paul turned odds and ends, bowls, small furniture pieces (eg. music stand and foot stool), and other small projects. Paul began turning lace bobbins in 1999 after returning home from Moscow, Russia. Along with Jim, Paul enjoys the challenge of designing and turning bobbins.
